Benefits of aloe vera juice and gel

The ingredients of the aloe vera plant have an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral or antioxidant effect and support healing processes of the skin. Aloe vera juice and gel are particularly suitable for treating sensitive skin on the face, but also on the whole body. And even internally, aloe vera can unfold its active ingredients. That is why aloe has been used for years as a medicinal plant against

  • Sunburn
  • Cuts
  • Insect bites
  • Burns
  • Dry skin
  • Eczema
  • Pimples
  • Redness on the face
  • Psoriasis
  • Dandruff
  • Neurodermatitis
  • Rosacea and much more

Aloe vera gel contains an extraordinary combination of active ingredients, which has a special effect due to the interaction of the individual substances. Scientists have been able to identify more than 200 ingredients [1] in the juice of aloe vera leaves:

  • Mono- and polysaccharides
  • Essential amino acids
  • Minerals
  • Trace elements
  • Secondary plant substances and much more

Aloe vera unfolds its greatest effect in its natural, fresh form. This means that any impairment of this natural active ingredient complex also reduces the effect on the skin.

Santaverde therefore uses aloe vera in its purest form and replaces the usual water component in cosmetics with pure aloe vera juice from its own controlled organic cultivation. In addition, the juice of the aloe vera plants from Santaverde contains a minimum content of the molecule aloverose of 1,200 mg per litre: the higher the aloverose concentration, the higher the total content of powerful vital substances and the more intensive the effect on the skin.

External benefits of aloe vera on the skin

Aloe vera gel is considered an all-rounder for irritated skin, sunburn and minor abrasions or cuts. The juice of the aloe vera plant has an immediate cooling, regenerating, calming and soothing effect and provides the skin with nutrient-rich moisture.

Scientifically proven: A study [2] from 2006 proves that aloe vera helps even better with sunburn and burns than hydrocortisone. In addition, aloe vera gel supports the treatment of wounds, eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis.

The cosmetics industry also takes advantage of the repair effect of aloe vera and likes to use it in anti-aging products. The natural combination of active ingredients and the moisturising effect of aloe vera support the regeneration of the skin and ensure a smooth and healthy complexion.

Can you apply aloe vera directly to the skin?

Yes, you can apply aloe vera directly to the skin. The aloe vera gel, inside the leaves, is excellent for application to the skin, as the gel-like texture leaves a protective film on the skin. Especially skin wounds, sunburn or small cuts benefit from the use of aloe vera gel. You can also apply the aloe vera juice extracted from the gel directly to the skin. Whether it is the fresh leaf gel or the juice produced from it - you should pay attention to high quality.

Tip: For a cooling face compress, soak a cloth with aloe vera juice and place it on the skin. Alternatively, aloe vera juice can be put on reusable pads for an eye compress. The aloe vera juice cools and cares for your skin on hot days and can be used several times a day. The toners from Santaverde are also suitable for a cooling-down during the day. These can be stored in the refrigerator and offer pure refreshment in addition to the caring aloe properties.

Internal benefit of aloe vera in the body

Beauty comes from within, as we all know. This is especially true for the effect of aloe vera. Aloe vera gel and aloe vera juice can also be used for internal application. The body benefits most from drinking the pure and fresh aloe vera juice. The aloe vera fillets, which are peeled out of the aloe vera leaves, can also be consumed and develop their health-promoting properties. It is important that you wash the leaf fillets after peeling to remove the Aloin. The Aloin is the yellowish liquid, between the leaf peel and the leaf fillet. Aloin can have a laxative effect and is therefore not contained in aloe vera juices.

In addition, it is especially important to pay attention to good quality aloe vera products. Dietary supplement capsules or powders may contain untested or low-quality ingredients that may harm the body rather than help it.

Aloe vera effect in the gut

A high-quality aloe vera juice, like the one from Santaverde, is really good for the gut. Aloe vera juice has an internal anti-inflammatory and calming effect. The aloverose it contains also strengthens the good intestinal bacteria so that they work better. Aloe vera therefore has a probiotic effect in the gut.

Aloe vera for a strong immune system

For an immune system to function well, the body needs all the important nutrients and vital substances. The active ingredient complex of aloe vera is not comparable to the vitamin and nutrient content of fruit and vegetables, but it still contributes to well-being. Aloe vera juice and gel can counteract inflammatory processes in the body and support the self-healing powers. Together with the vital substances from a healthy and varied diet, aloe vera contributes to a strong defence.

Uses of aloe vera gel

Aloe vera has gained attention especially in recent years and is more in demand than ever. Many ask: What is aloe vera gel good for? And how is aloe vera gel used?

The pulp of the aloe vera is considered a miracle weapon against many skin diseases. For example, aloe vera gel helps dry skin to regenerate itself and replenish its own moisture reservoir. In addition, aloe vera gel inhibits inflammation and is often used to treat pimples and reddened or irritated skin.

The application of aloe vera gel is very simple. The gel-like texture can be applied directly to the affected areas.

Aloe vera gel as a mask

Aloe vera gel or juice is very suitable as a base for homemade face masks. Apply an aloe vera gel, such as the aloe vera gel pur, or mix the gel or juice with healing clay and leave the mask on the facial skin for a few minutes. Then wash the mixture off with warm water. The combination of aloe vera and healing clay supports impure skin and has a clarifying and regenerating effect.

Peeling with aloe vera gel

A homemade peeling with aloe vera supports skin renewal. The peeling removes dead skin cells while aloe vera cares for the skin and provides it with nutrients. For a mechanical peeling, you need aloe vera gel, a tablespoon of oil (e. g. grape seed or jojoba oil) and a tablespoon of sea salt. Mix the three ingredients to a homogeneous paste and gently massage the peeling into your facial skin.

After-sun-care from aloe

Sunburn is injured and damaged skin. Pure aloe vera gel reduces redness, minimises itching and repairs the skin. Even people with sun allergies benefit from the application of pure aloe vera gel. The after sun recovery lotion by Santaverde is also a wonderful nourishing care product after the sun. Here, the cooling and healing properties of aloe vera are combined with shea butter and almond oil.

Prevent shaving pimples with aloe vera gel

Rinsing with warm water is usually sufficient. Alternatively, use a mild shampoo.

When buying an aloe vera gel, look for only natural ingredients and the organic quality of the product. Ensure the high quality of aloe vera gel by following these tips: When it comes to aloe vera cosmetic products, you should look carefully because only products with a high proportion of pure aloe vera juice and high quality, such as those from Santaverde, can unfold the effect of the valuable ingredients of aloe vera.

Quality feature aloverose in aloe vera juice

A measurable quality criterion for the effectiveness of aloe vera is the aloverose content. This unique molecule is only contained in the gel of the Aloe Barbadensis Miller. The higher the aloverose content in the aloe vera juice, the higher the total content of powerful vital substances and the more intensive the effect on the skin.

Advantages of aloe vera from controlled organic cultivation

Through controlled organic cultivation, the aloe vera plant grows in its natural and slow way. This allows it to accumulate all the valuable active ingredients for years. Accelerated growth through synthetic fertilisers stimulates the plant to quickly absorb large amounts of water. This increases the yield in kilos, but the ratio of the active ingredients to the total weight deteriorates rapidly.

Processing by hand ensures good aloe vera quality

Although harvesting and processing by hand is time-consuming, it preserves all the active ingredients of the freshly harvested plant. Thanks to harvesting by hand, no components of the unusable leaf skin get into the aloe vera juice. Subsequent filtering can damage the important active ingredients and they can even be lost completely.

Perfect climate for the aloe vera in Andalusia

Test series have shown that aloe vera from Andalusia has a particularly high aloverose content. Due to the seasonal temperature differences between summer and winter, the plants are exposed to a positive stress stimulus. This stimulates them to store more vital ingredients than is necessary in tropical growing countries, for example.

How can you recognise the quality of an aloe vera cosmetic product?

A good aloe vera product has a high content of organically grown aloe vera juice. The pure aloe vera juice has a moisturising, anti-inflammatory and regenerating effect. The pretty packaging of many aloe vera products, decorated with green leaves, suggests a high content of the healing plant. However, this is often not the case. Often, they only contain aloe vera powder, which is diluted with water. In addition to the quantity, the quality of the aloe vera raw material used in cosmetic products is decisive for the effect.

Quantity of aloe vera juice

The more of an active ingredient is contained in a formulation, the higher up the it is listed in the INCI (International Nomenclature). Only when pure aloe vera juice is used in sufficient quantity may "Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice" be placed first in the INCI. In the case of Santaverde organic cosmetic products, "Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice" (with reference to controlled organic cultivation) heads the INCI, as Santaverde replaces the usual water content in cosmetic products with pure aloe vera juice from its own cultivation and processing.

Quality of aloe vera juice

Legal requirements stipulate that uniform designations are used for ingredients in cosmetics: "Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice" means that the product contains real aloe vera juice. If only a concentrate - liquid or dried - is used instead, the name must be "Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Concentrate" or "Aloe Barbadensis Powder Extract". Concentrates are often used because they are cheaper and less complex to process. However, concentrates are often heavily processed, causing valuable ingredients to be damaged or lost completely.

Organic cultivation

The labelling of organic cultivation, which is very important for a high aloe vera quality, is usually indicated by an asterisk and the note "*from controlled organic cultivation" [2].

Quality differences of aloe vera gels

Aloe vera gel is not just aloe vera gel - it's the quality that counts. There is "100 % aloe vera gel" on the market. This is often associated with a particularly high density of active ingredients and quality. However, the statement "100 % aloe vera" does not mean that the product consists exclusively of aloe vera. This is because, as in every aloe vera gel, it also contains gel formers and stabilisers. In most cases, the 100 percent indication only means that an aloe vera powder concentrate has been re-diluted with water and thus corresponds to a 100 percent aloe vera juice. However, the aloe vera can no longer develop its full effectiveness as a re-diluted concentrate.

Santaverde's aloe vera gel pur contains more than 90 percent pure aloe vera juice from our own controlled organic cultivation, supplemented with vegetable gel formers and a gentle preservative complex of antibacterial plant extracts, stabilisers and undenatured organic ethyl alcohol.
