It all started with saving the own skin...
When Sabine Beer and her husband Kurt bought an old finca near Estepona in Andalusia in 1985, she encountered aloe vera for the first time.

It was initially an unpleasant situation for me. Our neighbor approached me about my skin problems, which I tried to cover with a thick layer of make-up. Without waiting for my answer, he fetched a freshly cut aloe leaf from his garden and recommended to apply the jelly-like inner to my inflamed and at the same time dry skin areas multiple times a day. I couldn't imagine at that time that this strange gel could help me, but then I tried it anyway.

Already after a short time she noticed a clear improvement. Sabine Beer was amazed and looked for aloe vera cosmetics with a similar effect. No chance! Although she was used to invest a lot of money in cosmetics to solve her skin problem, she did not find what she was looking for. So she decided without further ado to grow this miracle plant organically on her finca herself.

...and how it continued with Santaverde.

Sabine Beer actually only wanted to cultivate aloe vera and sell the pure juice extracted from the jelly-like content of the leaves to the cosmetics industry, which in turn was able to produce effective products for people with skin problems.

But this proved to be difficult. She was told that the processing of the pure juice was too complex and expensive, that there were preservation problems, and that mixing freeze-dried aloe powder with water was much more efficient. But this was not an option for Sabine Beer. Since most of the sensitive ingredients are damaged or lost during the drying process from juice to powder, Sabine Beer believes that the use of aloe vera powder deceives consumers - even more if the labels of these products show fresh plant leaves.

The development of the Santaverde formulation principle
She decided to produce her own cosmetics with the fresh, organic juice of the aloe instead of water as the main ingredient. This was an elaborate project that was finally successful with the help of numerous scientific studies and years of research by pharmacists and biologists.

The first Santaverde organic skin care products went on sale in 1997. One of the first products was the pure aloe vera gel. Whether for sunburn, allergy-stressed skin, mosquito bites or impurities - the pure gel of aloe vera has a scientifically guaranteed regenerating, moisturising and binding, soothing and cooling effect. Every single leaf of the certified organic aloe vera plants is harvested by hand and immediately processed in the modern laboratory in the middle of the Santaverde finca. In this way, the freshness and vitality of the aloe vera juice is preserved.

Santaverde today

The company now offers more than 40 highly effective natural cosmetic products and a 100 percent pure organic aloe vera juice for drinking. All Santaverde cosmetic products carry the NATRUE seal for certified natural cosmetics, the Leaping Bunny seal as a mark against animal testing and the seal of the Vegan Society. Free of synthetic fragrances, colourings and preservatives.
